Learning to solve conflicts
Confrontation is simply part of life, because it is impossible to reconcile all opposites.
Nevertheless, conflict is rarely a pleasant experience and most people would prefer to avoid it altogether. Some people seem to come up against opposing views more often than others. They seem to attract confrontation. In fact, some people seem to bring about conflict unintentionally.
However, confrontation can also contribute to highlighting where things are not running smoothly and ensuring that changes are made where necessary. This process is easier and causes less friction if a manager has learnt to understand the views and interests of all parties concerned and has had the chance to practise how to achieve resolution in clearly defined steps.
Such in-house training enables you to
• analyse your own behaviour in a conflict situation based on
situations that have occurred in your own day-to-day business
or are typical in a work environment,
• try out new attitudes and behaviour in small groups and
• obtain feedback on the effectiveness of your approach.
This makes it easier for you to absorb newly acquired skills and apply them in stressful situations.
